A summary of what passes for an Indian ICPC Contest, apparently The online round for the India’s ICPC was held on 23rd. And also a week before that. The first time around, the organisers tried debuting a self-hosted DOMjudge instance. That didn’t go too well, so a recontest was scheduled on CodeChef. If you’re not too familiar with the Indian ICPC system — this online prelims is used to select teams that can participate in the offline regionals. From a single university, usually approx. 2 teams (for the top unis) or 1 (for almost all unis that aren’t in top-15) qualify. As you could guess, it’s quite easy for good teams to miss a spot. Looking at the first contest’s rankings, teams from rank 2 to 100+ all had 4 solves. Owing to severe system issues in the first contest, the time penalties weren’t too reliable differentiators, leading to the recontest this Saturday. Will competitive programming ever become a real sport? I always was dreaming that one day competitive programming will become a real sport, not just activity for a small group of participants. Why? Because I don't really like working and my tries to do some science were totally unsuccessful. It would be cool to live just by doing what you like. Very childish, I know. But this blog is not about if competitive programming is important or are there any ways to make it interesting to watch to wider audience. I am just trying to understand, is it currently moving toward real sport or away from it? And I get some mixed signals about that: Bad signals: - Big onsites (like GCJ or TCO) seem to cut the number of participants and the amount of prizes. - Some onsite-finals are turning to online-finals. Without a lot of introductory blogs on how to get started competing in AI track, it becomes daunting to start & hence this blog. 0KB memory used by Kotlin submission My [submission](https://mirror.codeforces.com/contest/1533/submission/120893193) to today's problem F apparently uses 0KB memory, and I was able to find a few other similar cases as well. Even if you ignore every other obvious factor, the submission stores atleast 4e5 integers, so nowhere near 0KB even if rounded off to a reasonable amount. Probably a bug (or Kotlin sponsorship perks? :p) worth looking into.

Help fund ACPC fees – Regional Contest Recently, We were looking for sponsorship for the prestigious ACPC contest participation, but unfortunately, we can’t find any sponsor and 14 days left to pay ACPC fees which are 1,5k USD per team and we have two teams, so the only way to get the fees is by Fundraising. These guys have been training for two years and still are, they deserve to participate in the ACPC. For those of you who don't know how much the love and dedication our community gives to competitive programming, our community participated with over 200 teams in the ECPC qualifications this year , and we managed to have 4 teams qualified to participate in the regional contest, Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Contest (ACPC) As our talented teams qualified for the ACPC, the contest fees are the only obstacle holding them from pursuing their goal of the ICPC. Feedback on codeforces format I realize that CodeForces team would have come up with the codeforces format after giving in a lot of thought, and getting good feedback from their friends. And that they would have also got more feedback now from codeforces community here. But... to make it count, here is a negative feedback.<div><br></div><div>Guys, the format, simply put, is very boring. After you solve a question or two, you keep on wondering whether to go ahead trying the next problem, or to lock your previous ones and go on a hacking spree. And you wonder what others would be doing. It would be much better to have one work flow for all. Instead of half the participants solving problems, other half hacking them.</div><div><br></div><div>I thought you guys had a chat app around here. Is that still here or was that removed?
