So, you won't believe what went down at my college with Google's hiring event. It's kinda messed up. So, there were these guys who totally rocked the coding challenges and had killer profiles, but guess what? They didn't make the cut for interviews. On the flip side, you had some girls who were struggling big time and didn't even bother with the test, but somehow they snagged interview spots. Like, what's up with Google's diversity drill, like the STEP thing? It's like they're more into balancing guy-girl ratios than actually spotting the real talents.
Don't get me wrong, being diverse is cool, but fairness should be up there too, right? The tech scene needs top-notch talents who can bring fresh ideas to the table. Those dudes who totally aced it shouldn't be kicked to the curb just because they're dudes. It's not a battle of the sexes here, seriously. It's about what's fair and giving credit where it's due. Fair means everyone gets a fair shot based on their skills, not whether they rock a skirt or jeans.
