Hello all,

Codeforces announces contest for the best motto (slogan) for laptop stickers!

Motto is a short catchy and creative slogan/tagline. It should relate to programming contests/problems. It will be great if everybody who sees our stickers gets to know how programming contests are cool! We are looking for motto in English.

Write your mottos in comments, vote for your favorite! The writer of the best motto will get a set of new stickers :-)

The results will be announced on November, 14. We will take into account number of votes and opinion of the Codeforces Team.

Good luck!

UPD: Thank you for your proposals! I've already started to draw some of them. Which ones? Let's save intrigue: the final stage of the contest with proposals from the community and the Codeforces team is waiting! ;)

Today 2016-2017 ACM-ICPC, NEERC, Southern Subregional Contest will be held. On behalf of jury and hosts I wish teams to make happy their coaches!

You can watch the results by the link https://contest.sgu.ru/monitor/1.

And on Sunday (October, 23) on 08:00 (UTC) we will host unofficial online mirror. Interesting problems are waiting for you. Judges tried to prepare problems of wide difficulty range: for newcomers and for expirienced teams. This will be a team/personal contest on Codeforces, with teams consisting of up to three people or individual participants. The contest will not affect Codeforces ratings.

For sure, it will be unrated contest. We recommend you to take part in teams. I think, the contest will be moved to Gym later.

Good luck!

MikeMirzayanov, head of judges.

Hi Codeforces,

I'm excited to announce the Canada Cup, the first Codeforces contest to be sponsored by Diagram!

This is a rated Codeforces round (with T-shirts!) for both divisions which will take place on October 22 at 11:00am EDT.

Although the contest is organized in Canada, all competitors worldwide will be able to compete and win prizes.

The problems for this round were written me (zxqfl) and the Codeforces team. I'd like to thank:

  • My coauthors for contributing great problems to the round
  • GlebsHP for his help in preparation
  • MikeMirzayanov for creating Codeforces and Polygon
  • Tatiana_S for translation into Russian

I'd also like to thank Diagram for sponsoring the round. Diagram is interested in hiring software engineers, so please take a look at the information at the end of this post if you're interested. For anyone outside of Canada, they'd like me to let you know that Canada has friendly immigration policies for software engineers.

Both divisions will compete in the same contest, which will consist of 7 problems of the same difficulty level as a regular Codeforces round. The contest will last for 2.5 hours.

The score distribution will, of course, be announced later.

As soon as the time of registration to the round was a bit early, there may be some first division participants taking part in a line with a second division participants. There are not many of them, so (and due to technical problems) this will be left as is.

Due to NEERC subregionals in Saratov, rating will be updated tomorrow.
